When a child has had a really good day (particularly one who has had recent missing work or behavioral issues) I sit them down after class and let them pick some good messages that we will send home that night. It really helps a lot. TeleParent makes it easy for me to have those moments.

TeleParent has been priceless in my ability to reach parents - opening it daily, and period by period acting on behavior issues on the spot. Just announcing the TeleParent term is powerful in itself - students will immediately "switch gears," and respond by regrouping and engaging in on-task behaviors. It is clear that my messages are getting through to students - - - through their parents! I like the fact that TeleParent gives parents a sense of control in their child's daily progress and the opportunity to let the child know that their parent is in charge and has created a team effort with the child's teachers. I LOVE that my input becomes a form of permanent record keeping! Thanks TeleParent for allowing me to communicate and manage 150 students' individual data!

One of the most helpful features of the TeleParent System is the ability to notify parents when their students are making improvements or have done something positive by using the green "rewards" category. Because TeleParent is listening to teachers and is providing an increasingly varied selection of items in the notification categories, I usually can find an area to choose to positively reinforce students during the semester. Often, this technique is self-motivating for students, especially those who have so often receive negative notices. Usually, when one student hears that another student received a "positive" telephone call, other classmates begin vying to volunteer for both academic and non-academic tasks. The best result that I have noted occurs when a student make improvements, asks me if I have noted his or her improvements, and inquires if I plan to "TeleParent" that day. That kind of question always serves as my reward for using the TeleParent System.

It's so simple to use and very time efficient! Today I reminded three classes of students about their test next class. It took less than a minute.

When I notice students are meeting up to my expectations (for example, making good use of time), then I thank them for that behavior and say, "I will put 'Made good use of time' for everyone who is present today", quickly fill out the Teleform on TeleParent, and have it projected onto the screen using an LCD projector. I usually only project TeleParent comments that are positive, which I want students to continue.

I have been using TeleParent to set up tutorials for my seniors who are in danger of not graduating. TeleParent notifies the parents of what the poor grade or missing assignment was that the student was assigned to a tutorial, and what the student's current grade is. Since I've been using TeleParent, my D and F rate has dropped from 30% to 12%!!!! Wow! What a powerful tool for re-teaching and helping students be successful.

TeleParent is the single most important tool for daily communication to the home to reward, guide and assist the student for improvement and success. I use it almost everyday and credit it for raising grades and lowering absences and tardies. Without this my job would be impossible. I've taught for thirty-five years. Thanks, Rick Farnsworth.
